Noise Abatement Guidelines for Homeowners

The Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport works closely with aircraft operators to minimize noise impacts over residential areas in Fernandina Beach. The airport has implemented a voluntary noise abatement program which includes recommended noise abatement aircraft operating procedures. The goal of this program is to minimize aircraft noise exposure to residential areas while maintaining airport operations. These guidelines are available for download and viewing (here).

The Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport is included in the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS). As such, it is considered essential to the nation’s air transportation system. Therefore, the City cannot restrict access to certain types of aircraft operations nor impose mandatory curfews. However, the airport understands that nighttime or very early morning flights can be annoying and asks aircraft operators to cooperate with published noise abatement guidelines and nighttime quiet hours, when possible. It is important to note that safety of flight takes precedence over noise abatement guidelines at all times.
